fancyadornments @northern_aisle Hi fellow Brittany owner! We have two Brittanys now, but have had 7 so far. I agree they are the best dogs! How do yours handle the Alaskan climate? We live in Florida & put jackets on them when it hits the 40’s. Thanks for sharing my closet & I will be happy to share yours too ☺️.

northern_aisle @fancyadornments They do well here. We are on a coastal island in the south of Alaska where it is fairly wet and mild compared to farther north. The 40s is our normal range of highs October - March, it rains almost everyday so they need rain jackets to stay somewhat dry!

fancyadornments @northern_aisle We visited Alaska in 2004 & would love to go back. I can’t imagine highs in the 40’s! I wouldn’t survive! We took a cruise & an inland tour & went to Sitka. It is beautiful up there!

bowtiquemom @fancyadornments yep- got Cooper 🥰 snoozing on his bed- also an orange. He’s 15 and not so spry/healthy but I’m giving him his best senior life. Lots of cuddles. We’ve had 2 liver females & 2 orange males. So sweet, loyal & smart- just want to please their people. We do need to keep the secret on the down low though- so they aren’t over breed 🥰 😁 do you show? Field trial? Ours were/are pets.

fancyadornments @bowtiquemom @bowtiquemom I am glad you still have Cooper. Our first 2 were livers, one male & one female. The rest have been orange & whites, all females. I really wanted another liver when we got Tess 3 years ago but they were all called for already. Tess has lots of freckles & ticking but is not a roan. My first 3 were pets but I have been competing in AKC sports with the others. We have done rally, hunt tests, a little obedience (too boring 😉), scent work, Fast CAT & agility.

fancyadornments @bowtiquemom Agility is my first love. Piper was the # 1 Brit in Fast CAT 3 years in a row but has dropped down in rankings see we spayed her & the fact that she is 7.5 years old now. We get to run at Invitationals in Orlando in December, most likely her last time getting to run there. They are super versatile dogs! I feel the same thing way as you, I’d rather not too many people got them!

My MIL was a breeder- she did all those things and still does some hunt test stuff. She was immersed in the Brit world in MD/VA. So I’m familiar w/ some of the life. So happy for you. Enjoy 😊

bethbaker49 I used to own the 2nd largest horse in the world 3500lbs Belgium Draft Horse & 22 hands tall. 🐴🐎 are $$$. Especially when you have 6 of them lol. My daughter & I barrel raced for 10 yrs. Done western riding, Trail rides & English jumping. The picture shows my daughter at Williston Horse Show. Well Goodwill is a really good place & garage & yard sales. Just had surgery on my heart now on bed rest. Nice to meet you. We had a Palomino QH & Thoroughbreds. have a good day. 🌻🐴🦩🐕🤠

le_stage @fancyadornments That’s so cool! I enjoy watching those competitions so much! Although my boy is active he doesn’t have that focus 🫤. We tried sheep herding and he does it but doesn’t LOVE it. My Belgian Malinois on the other hand…she might, but she’s still a baby in training 🤗. She’s got focus in spades though!

le_stage @fancyadornments We’re talking about doing it to try and manage her drive and our sanity! 😬 We’ve had her about 2 months now. The vet said she was probably 4 months old when we rescued her. We’ve been teaching her basics and manners. She’s wicked smart and a total handful! Thank goodness for our Aussie!

le_stage @fancyadornments No, but I looked it up. It would be fun to try at least to see how she likes it. Guess we need to find a course near our area! She’s young, but growing like a weed. She’s gained a lot of weight back and is already higher at the shoulder than our 2.5 year old male Aussie.

delcobunny @fancyadornments I compete in dog sports! I could tell you Britt was well bred from the picture! We also do fast cat, barn hunt, scent work, trick dog and hoping to do dock diving next year. We also shed hunt and working on blood trailing. We are looking at AKC SAR classes and tests!! The dog world is definitely small! 💕

She was #1 Brittany for 3 years in Fast CAT. We got to run at AKC Invitationals in Orlando. Since then we had her spayed & she put on weight & slowed down.

fancyadornments What are SAR classes? We tried dock diving but Piper wanted nothing to do with the pool! I love watching dock diving though. A have a younger Britt who also does agility & Fast CAT. She is currently #9 on the Fast CAT rankings. Hoping to get her in the top 5.
