lydsenterI've purchased a couple of pairs that are obviously fakes. I wish I'd read up on how to tell if they're fakes before I purchased. Now I know, thank you for the Intel!!! The floor bed of the ones I got was tell tell sign! They look felt glued onto "cork". Also the buckle attachments & color & stamp of the Birk, Birki & Papillio logos. Some are def more bvious than others. Oh, the soles(bottoms) aren't shiny like the authentics. Shoppers beware!

susanlimeHi, What’s fake about this photo? Thanks.

Sep 13Reply

misscia@susanlime there should be another set of numbers under the 38. Also missing a mark next to the word Birkenstock. Was informed the last pair I bought off PM was fake by a Birkenstock employee

Sep 13Reply

susanlimeThanks for sharing.

Sep 13Reply

ginamamabirks@misscia I have written a blog about how to spot Fake Birkenstocks. Here is the link if anyone wants to read it: http://www.ilovebirkenstocks.com/blog/category/spotting-fake-birkenstocks-part-2

upcyclefunk123@misscia🙋 hi friend I just purchased 2 pairs of fake birks off a posher, they feel awful, my own fault I should of looked closer before I purchased and I should of never accepted them until I put them on, you can tell they are not real they feel almost like shoes from the dollar store, they are heavier and the cork is not right either, they are just all wrong...thanks for posting this..poshers beware!!!!!

Sep 13Reply

misscia@upcyclefunk123 disappointing for sure!

Sep 13Reply

dbjmediaI just reported some. Report if you see them ladies and gents.

Sep 13Reply

carrieflattThere is a person selling several pairs of fake ones. The sizes on the footpad are L8 M6.5 and I didn't Birks came in half sizes. They are also not lining up on sizes, so are two sizes for men and womens and some are a size and half. I was blocked for commenting on their listing. Be careful ladies!!

Sep 18Reply

misscia@carrieflatt thank you for sharing this! It’s such a bummer that people do this.

Sep 18Reply

sgreenwood94Wow! Thanks for posting! I just bought a pair from Poshmark a week ago and was relieved to see that they are genuine, when I looked them over after reading this!

madferulloI’m selling real ones if anyone wants to check them out!

Nov 16Reply

shuzerHi CIA! Thanks for calling attention to this. In addition to Birks, some Poshers will sell fake Timberland boots, Toms, Ugg boots, Gucci, etc. Rule of thumb - if the seller posts blurry pics, won’t post the manufacturer’s authenticity sticker (when asked), won’t respond to direct questions, etc. the item “might” be fake. Don’t just take the seller’s word for it (a few have blatantly lied to me) ask for proof and clear pics. Any legitimate seller would understand if you need more information.

kkbeepUGH. I bought a pair of fakes. Luckily they were cheap, and I'm just going to use them in the garden, but how annoying to have fallen for this. Thanks for sharing this info!!

Jan 19Reply

kelleher989I also purchased TOMS on Poshmark that were fakes. They feel awful on your feet. I think I have also purchased fake, COach WALLET, COIN PURSE, PURSE, AND I believe possibly FAKE LuLaRoe Nicole Dresses. BUT the TOMS for SURE are fakes, I bought several pair over the years, none of the skechers Bob's were fake, they were great. There's more fake TOMS listed in Poshmark right now. I saw them yesterday.

leslie98396Thank you so much for posting this, saved me a lot of grief and $$$. XOXO, Leslie

Feb 17Reply

amberunthankMy mom has original sandals from Birkenstock store. She has about 8 pairs. The sole says BIRK in bold letters. Depending on how large the buckle is large buckles say birkenstock etched in and smaller buckles have birk and birken. The logo on the side is basically carved out of leather. Her size is 9 so all of her birkenstocks say 40 260 l9 m7 all say madw in Germany all have a foot and all have a crest that is either blank or says brand sohle leder.

Mar 22Reply

resourcefulrnFor sure cross-check with the Birkenstock website to compare, I've seen some questionable "Birkenstocks" out there. Birk footbeds should look like this (hope the link works): https://www.birkenstock.com/dw/image/v2/BBBF_PRD/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-master-catalog/default/dw0e85cd36/40301/40301_top.jpg?sw=1500&sh=1500

y_6530Wow! ..thanks for sharing, I'll be more diligent in my future purchases👍

Apr 27Reply

virginia_pageIn between the 38 and the us size should be the number 245. Another fake Birkenstock thing is if under the 38/245 section they list SIZE INSTEAD of the us size L7M5 or other corresponding ladies and men's sizes. Check out my listing and share for a real Birkenstock also!!

Apr 27Reply

sugarswap@ginamamabirks Thanks!

Apr 27Reply

aimosinaThere are fake ones with the gold/ yellow writing too. There are actually quite a few fakes that are pretty convincing 🙁

Apr 30Reply

mstlh50I have already got taken in by a woman with the fakes. Cost me about $30.00. Will be a lot more careful from now on.

May 11Reply

epfresita@ginamamabirks great info, thanks for sharing! I was not aware that Birkenstock had a problem with counterfeit shoes. I will definitely do my research before investing in a new pair...

May 31Reply

somelissaHi! I saw your comment on rshep Birkenstock’s and they are authentic 😊 Ive purchased from him more than once. They are from a retail store buyout so that’s why they are cheaper

Jun 12Reply

r_wooden@somelissa Same here I’ve bought over 10 pairs and they are all 100% Authentic from RShep...I also have authentic Birks for sale! I’ve also sold over 80 pairs of Birks and never received any open cases of fakes nor have had any returns! 👍

Jun 12Reply

somelissa@r_wooden I thought you were asking him those questions because you were skeptical so I just wanted to let you know that his were definitely authentic 😊💛

Jun 12Reply

somelissa@r_wooden oops I wasn’t paying attention and I thought you were the girl Who made this post. Lol so sorry

Jun 12Reply

r_wooden@somelissa No...I as well saw the comment and just wanted to confirm they are 100% Authentic just as you did! 👍

Jun 12Reply

r_wooden@somelissa ❤️👍

Jun 12Reply

somelissa@r_wooden 👍👍👍

Jun 12Reply

r_woodenI had one lady who has never bought any Birks from my closet threaten to report me b/c she couldn’t understand why my prices were so low. She assumed they were fakes. I told her the Birk market is to be “sold” not “told” 😂 She was so furious with me...she was for sure trolling me!

Jun 12Reply

Jul 15Reply

misscia@somelissa That is good to hear. Transparency is so key and when the shop owner themselves do not reply back, It is concerning. Love honest sellers!

Jul 15Reply

curated_hanger@ginamamabirks Hi is the blog on your page?? If not please send me a link so I can copy.....Thanks

Aug 01Reply

myrnamertzThank you for taking the time to share!...very cool :)

Aug 17Reply

shelleyjhansonThank you so much for taking the time to post this and give us a heads-up! There are a bunch of fakes up right now and the other things I have noticed is that the “Birk” on the sole is poorly imprinted (deep/uneven and not simply from wear) and are sometimes only stamped a couple times.

Aug 19Reply

misscia@shelleyjhanson you are welcome. It is really too bad, we all work so hard for our money and being tricked is the worse. People would still buy knock offs knowing that they are such, frustrating because I want to trust other poshers.

Aug 19Reply

shelleyjhanson@misscia Ironically, after I read and responded to your post I decided to check my black Birk’s that I’d purchased here on Posh and.....They’re fake. I could cry. They weren’t even that cheap - I paid $48 for them which is a lot for me. I’ve opened a ticket with support; hopefully they can help in some way. I wish I’d found your post sooner, but am so grateful to have found it now and I hope to help spread the word about these counterfeits. Thanks again!

Aug 19Reply

misscia@shelleyjhanson it is upsetting. That is a lot for me too.

Aug 22Reply

misscia@ikim777 I would not buy those. They look too odd.

Aug 23Reply

jenteen@ginamamabirks thank you! I have purchased fake Birkenstock’s on PM & appreciate you writing this up!!!!

poppstarhttps://poshmark.com/closet/nadelscott If you get a chance, can you check these out? Did Birkenstock ever use the lettering on all the shoes posted?

Oct 16Reply

the_lucky_duckThank you for sharing this tip. 👍🏻 Have a beautiful week 😊

Nov 20Reply

sheshexx4@carrieflatt Why can’t you just give us the seller/ closet name?

Mar 19Reply

misscia@ageffre I got scammed once and after learning about it I had to share.

Apr 03Reply

crystalkenyon61ty so much for the info. i had no idea.

Apr 13Reply

htpmneumann93@somelissa how do I find the rshep shop? It’s not coming up in search and there are so many variations

May 26Reply

shylah_wellsxThank u!

Jun 01Reply

avma@r_wooden @somelissa hi I bought some Birks from Rshep and they arrived today but the footbed on one shoe is missing the four digit number birks normally include and the other shoe only has a two digit number imprinted. I always thought these had to be on the shoe to be authentic but I don’t want to open a case if I am wrong

Jun 17Reply

somelissa@avma hi I’ve ordered several pairs from that seller and they all have been authentic. If you want to post some photos in your closet I can take a look at them

Jun 17Reply

somelissa@avma but authentic birks should have the imprinted #

Jun 17Reply

avma@somelissa I have posted pics! Seem to be authentic everywhere else except for the number missing

Jun 17Reply

r_wooden@avma Ive purchased with Rshep several times. Every pair I’ve received have always been authentic. I haven’t ran across any Birkenstock’s since last year so I don’t know if this year they made changes to their footbed design or not...I would call Birkenstock to confirm first before opening up an dispute.

Jun 17Reply

avma@r_wooden thank you I am chatting with them now!

Jun 17Reply

avma@r_wooden unfortunately they were not willing to confirm after I told them I purchased from poshmark, wouldn’t even tell me if the number should be 4 or 2 digits 😕

Jul 27Reply

mackenzee88@shuzer another fake to watch out for are no Bulls, they are out there and are really good! The sole is just not quite right and the No Bull logo on the shoe is not reflective…

Aug 23Reply

joan_galtThanks SO MUCH for this information!! And no thanks to PM for not doing their job...shame.

Oct 19Reply

impeachtrumpLet Poshmark know that you weren’t aware they were fake until after the 3 day limit I bought fake Tom Ford $250 sunglasses & didn’t find out until 2 months later when my son said they’re knock offs, I was refunded I also bought fake Cocoa Chanel perfume the box was sealed in the plastic & it appeared legit Opening it I was appalled as it was cheap flowery toilet water I notified PM late & again I was refunded It’s never to late to demand a refund on Knock offs PM’s iresponsible

Jan 06Reply

andromida69Can you post more pictures of these fakes?? Thanks

Jan 22Reply

misscia@andromida69 in the comments, there is an awesome blog to check for deep details into the fakes on here.

Jan 22Reply

hammiesmom14344Hi! Can u provide a photo to compare it to an authentic one? Thanks!

Feb 01Reply

hammiesmom14344@ginamamabirks hi!! Cant seem to copy & paste the link. Do u mind sending it to me?? I love birkenstocks as well, but now that i am retired and new birkenstocks at Nordstrom Rack have doubled from what i normally pay- i am looking into purchasing used ones on PM & other platforms. Thanks!! :)

Feb 01Reply

hammiesmom14344@upcyclefunk123 victim of this, as well. Not on PM. They posted photos of actual Birkenstocks- took forever to receive n when I got them, I was so upset!! They were so cheap, I didnt want to wear them around the house! Ive loved Birkenstocks since before I had kids, now i have a grand-baby n cant wait for her to start walking so i can get her a pair. Wt osteoarthritis/gout, i even love my Birkenstocks more as they really offer relief in addition to them looking so beautiful

Feb 01Reply

refound4you@susanlime ….and the foot is aways to the right of the numbers :)

Feb 20Reply

refound4you@carrieflatt correct…Birk’s do not come in 1/2 sizes. Grrrrr. Keep busting the sellers who have fakes. It is a service we can give to all.

Feb 20Reply

refound4youThank you for doing this. Going forward I am going to post educational information on all my Birkenstock listings. If we all work together we can shut down the fakers by reporting them to Poshmark every time you find one.

Feb 20Reply

hammiesmom14344https://posh.mk/2Z0pRBt3Exb I was just trying to help the seller recognize that she might be selling a knock-off but she just wouldnt have any of it. I noticed she has authentic items as well and thought maybe she was overwhelmed and just didnt see that one of her items is not authentic.

Jun 22Reply

iirmita@madferullo where are they

Jul 11Reply

r_najeraI just bought some that were fake. Post was of leather ones , shoes had a tag that said they were leather , they smelled like leather , but there wasn’t a leather symbol on the shoes. Posher said that she never said they were leather. They look real but they weren’t. I returned them and I’m getting a refund.

jamiegower@carrieflatt Any chance you can post that link so that I can avoid it? (Well and other people too)

Sep 17Reply

jamiegowerDoes anyone know how to fix the corkbed? My puppy ate mine, and I called our shoe repair shop. Because they have to get the cork sent in from Germany (or whatever country), it’s more expensive to fix ONE corkbed than to buy a new pair. I just can’t afford a new pair lol.
