Hey guys! Just wondering which type of photos y’all prefer for my closet? Do you like the mirror selfies in my home or the outside photos? I go back and forth but it’s too much work to do both so i would love any helpful input! I like the personal touch the ones in my living room but i think sometimes the lighting is better outside.... thought and opinions much appreciated as i will be doing away with one soon.... thanks for all the posh love ❤️ ❤️❤️

echosvintags Outdoor has great lighting and colors! Beautiful closet. I use a iPhone stand I got on amazon that came with a Bluetooth remote so I can take photos without holding my phone. Makes it easier if that’s something you’re interested in! ❤️✊🏻

magentagreen Hi Julie. I am always drawn to the interior photos. Not too sure why. Perhaps it is a warmer light and the cool mirror. Although the last photo with the darker plaid pant does look best in the outside light. I think, stick with one majority of the time, but if you see an item not getting much traffic you might try photographing it the other way.

oliver_and_co The difference is very minimal thus I say on nice days use the outside lighting & if you have bad weather then go inside. Don't stress yourself too much as we are really looking at the clothes and not the background.

muthaluvvintage I like them both. I finally settled on a background against a wall and got the tripod to start taking my own photos. Gonna try it for Spring and Summer. It is one of my greatest struggles, photos.... The more I look the more I like the inside pics.

I think the outside photos look better - the lighting is great, you are not holding a phone, and there are no distracting shapes in the background. courtneyor Not everyone knows how to capture an indoor photo, in a way that compliments the subject. I think you nailed it, your indoor photos look well lit, beautiful, personal and suit your closets aesthetic. Perhaps consider reserving outdoor for things that especially need to be emphasized. Like I have these kicks that are done no justice in my Mirror selfies, I’m sure you’ll have your own exceptions worth making the time for 😉

chloejanexo Initially I’d have said outdoor without hesitating but then after really analyzing, as both a buyer and seller, I think the lighting reveals almost too much in the outdoor pics. Sure, the color is more vivid and probably slightly more accurate but when I’m shopping I like to feel inspired and every one of your indoor pics accomplishes that for me.

chloejanexo However, in some of the outdoor pics I found myself nitpicking over the true color of a garment, like the long brown (orange/gold) jacket looking a little faded or the material being too linen-like. I almost got in my head too much because of the “true-r” lighting. I think giving a buyer as much visual truth as possible is what we owe other Poshers, but I do think great pieces can work and it’s important to sell THAT. So — indoor for me!

kkthorsen P.s. how are toy taking these photos of yourself? I'm doing mine in a mirror and it's exhausting holding the phone. It hurts my hands so much and I start shaking. knagel00 From a strictly marketing/sales perspective: outside, 100%. Those pics feel elevated. The lighting is so much better and the featured item just gets lost when it has to compete with all the stuff inside. Taking selfies is so limiting, too. Everyone on PM has selfies on their page, you want to do better cause you've got a strong business going here, not just a passive side-hustle. Or that's what I see, anyway;). Really enjoy following your PM closet!

brendamk Interior... either with Ring light stand via blue tooth remote or another person shooting the photo. Pics taken via a mirror aren’t always taken from the best angle - they often make the model seem bigger in some places which results in an unflattering look for the garment of it doesn’t look good on the model.
