3 quick ways to spot a COUNTERFEIT Too Faced Palette (this one is "Chocolate Bon-Bons") 1) If mirror edges inside cover aren't completely covered by cardboard, it's COUNTERFEIT. 2) If there's a misspelled word in product booklet (should be "Bon Bon"), it's COUNTERFEIT. 3) Authentic Too Faced palettes print the shade colors inside the case in BRIGHT REFLECTIVE GOLD (last photo, AUTHENTIC). If the letters under the shadows are matte dull gold, it's COUNTERFEIT. Can be tough to see in photos.

redneckbarbie23 @prettybirdshop does too faced only print in glod letters or do they at times have black?
Aug 27Reply
prettybirdshop
prettybirdshop @redneckbarbie23 Hi! Too Faced uses black print to label palette eyeshadow shades sometimes, especially if the background is gold (e.g., their Chocolate Gold, Gingerbread Spice, Natural Lust, etc.). Sometimes the shadows aren't labeled at all on the inner surface, especially in the smaller palettes. Hope that helps! xxoo

supasoda90 Thank u for educating women. I've often wondered about purchasing cosmetics on sites other than major retailers. I have an autoimmune disorder that affects my eyes. It's crucial I only buy "Authentic" (NWTA/never swatched) products bcuz of the health concern. It helps if I can spot counterfeit products. Thanks 4 the pointers! 😊

jenna21marie @supasoda90 Just make sure you are buying from trusted sellers if you purchase makeup on here. A good seller will be honest in their posts, won't sell fake harmful makeup, and care about their customers and their health ♡ My customers always come #1, the people who put money before someone's health just disgust me. I am glad more people are exposing the fakes on here.

jenna21marie @prettybirdshop yesss! so glad to see others putting the truth out there 🙏. Have you watched the Netflix series "Broken" yet? They have a show exposing the black market makeup and how horrible it is and how fecies and all can be found in these disgusting fakes. It makes me sad that Posh doesn't take it more serious but I am glad that there's some of us on here trying to help others.

jenna21marie @prettybirdshop yesss go watch! It is very interesting and eye opening. I am happy to see that they are putting it out there. The more people know, the better. I am sure it will never fully go away but hopefully slow it down some. I know someone who personally ended up in the ER because they had such a bad allergic reaction they stopped breathing and someone who went blind 😪 its so sad.

supasoda90 @jenna21marie Oh wooow! Thank you so much, I will look for the info you just shared with me about the Mac products. It's kinda scary when a person's eyes & sight are concerned. I will look up that YouTube documentary as well. I'm glad sellers are giving us helpful pointers, there's a difference between buying a fake Michael Kors purse & a fake Mac eyeliner.

jenna21marie
jenna21marie @supasoda90 exactly!!! Knock off handbags and clothes is 1 thing and makes sense so you can still have nice things but at a fraction but stuff your skin actually absorbs into your blood stream and that can get into your eyes and mouth and contains fecies and chemicals it is so so wrong on many levels. Alot of black market makeup is also tied to funding human trafficking and other illegal activities it is so scary. :(

prettybirdshop @jenna21marie I often receive comments from buyers who want to buy MAC products from me for $5 or $10 "just like [they] do all the time from other Poshmark closets." I try to explain that there are differences between authentic MAC and items that are likely counterfeit.

prettybirdshop @jenna21marie It is so helpful that you mentioned the Netflix documentary "BROKEN" (first episode, "Makeup Madness"). I watched it and found it incredibly disturbing. I knew about the health risks, but I didn't know about the links between the counterfeiting industry and organized crime. Thank you so much for educating others!

haideemia
haideemia I agree on not selling counterfeit or even used, its illegal here and everyone does it so all my items are new specially for hygiene reasons. but I also know people who can never afford the real one that this makes them so happy. I think it's no harm for people who put to specifically state that it's not authentic. just my opinion before selling. it's a crime to say it's real and u know damm well its not

jordyncombs20
jordyncombs20 @haideemia I understand exactly where you’re coming from, but also wanted to distinguish the difference between dupes and fakes. It is true that It is the buyer’s choice if they knowingly purchase a fake, but I wouldn’t say it’s not a crime, as it still supports an industry that has been linked to sex trafficking and other crimes and has zero regulatory rules on their products. You could literally be putting feces on your eye and the fakes don’t have to tell you otherwise.
Jan 12Reply
jordyncombs20
jordyncombs20 @haideemia Dupes however, are a great way to get a sense of buying the prestige brands without the danger of buying the fakes. They’re regulated, will clearly state that they are a different brand, and oftentimes aren’t too different from many prestige products. Those are where I would direct buyers who can’t afford the prestige brands to.

jordyncombs20
jordyncombs20 @haideemia Like I said, totally understand what you’re saying, and I mean absolutely zero disrespect if I come across that way. I just wanted to take the opportunity to teach people about the differences in case they’re considering knowingly purchasing fakes 💕 (sorry for multiple comments/my super long comment, they only let me put 500’characters per comment lol)
Jan 12Reply
jordyncombs20
jordyncombs20 @haideemia my comment was more so for anyone who may have been scrolling through who didn’t know any better. To each her own, like I said, I got where you were coming from. Knowingly buying fakes is on the buyer, all I meant was even if you know its fake, you still don’t know what’s in it. I wasn’t trying to shoot you down, and if I came off that way then I’m sorry. I was just trying to give info to those who didn’t know the choice existed that may have been scrolling through the same way I was.

supasoda90 Forgive me for coming back to this but I just recently saw a news story about CBD oil (different than makeup obviously) but the study was to show which ones contained what % of THC. It bothered me to find out that market is not governed by any agency (so buy @ your own risk). Your post has truly helped, & I also get the other comments on ppl who may not be able to afford the real products. Sorry so long. :)

tashiana56
tashiana56 I am a loyal user of different variations of name brand beauty products including my favorite MAC cosmetics. I'm also on the lookout for any kind of counterfeit makeup. The ingredients of "fake" beauty products are cheap and not tested for purity and can be extremely harmful to skin of the user. So, thank you so much for making us aware of how these fake cosmetics are marketed and sold.
