Small intricately carved wood box on a pedestal from Mexico. Top fits perfectly. Lid has what appears to be a bone knob. The word “recuerdo” (souvenir) carved in top. Small opening for a tiny wood spoon. This was in a furnished home purchased by my parents in 1946, and was definitely not new at the time. GB3

yminjares Lovely piece. How do you know it is from Mexico?

minkeybusiness Since it has the Spanish word “recuerdo”, it must be from Spanish speaking country. The people who had previously lived in the home spent much time in Mexico and moved to the Rio Grande valley to be near Mexico. Also, another item found with this item had the town “Toluca” carved on it. Although sold, I’ll try to tag you from that item, a molinillo, so you can see. Thanks for your interest. Pat 🐒
