@peeshy101 thanks! I'm a silversmith and jeweler so I refinish the vintage pieces that come to me in need of a little extra TLC. These sterling spoon rings polish up nicely too =)

@liviavintage oh wownthats so cool! how did you become a silversmith if I can ask? I was seriously looking at small dremel like tool that could polish up some of mine. I have some silver charms I want to clean up and they're so small. So amazing how it shines up!

ok I looked up Silversmithing 😁 but if I could ask for a recommendation for a novice that wants to clean their vintage jewelry would be great. I did some baby spoons, and other tableware with aluminum foil method. And used buff cloth and mad it was 360. Ty ...a true art form 👩🏼🎨

@peeshy101 it was kind of an accident actually. I was a helicopter mechanic in the Coast Guard and then a corrections officer but have always been super artsy. Basically I got tired of stressful jobs and management bureaucracy and decided to teach myself (with the help of an old school mentor) silversmithing. I worked as a diamond consultant for a time after I got out of the service so I had a leg up with gem and diamond knowledge...also, I'm obssesed with shiny things lol

@peeshy101 I do a lot of custom work for people that are local. my style is very whimsical and feminine. the dude that taught me is an old school traditional navajo style smith and my style is a complete 180. a few of my original pieces are still listed in the boutique section of my closet. honestly, repairing and rehabbing old pieces is much more fun

@peeshy101 and for cleaning tarnish off silver I still only recommend using a polishing cloth, dawn, and a toothbrush. and if the tarnish is stubborn theres stuff called Silver Blue.... its industrial strength acid for stripping silver of all discolorations

@liviavintage sorry tool so long getting back had to make sure it finally got quiet. Such an interesting path. I lived in ur area as a kid for a bit. My stepdad was I'm construction of Nuke and Nutrisweet and who knows plants on the 80's. I remember driving down the highway and getting seafood caught fresh on roadside. Nice that had a great mentor. Always seems like these days it's about classes.

@liviavintage Navajo and Native American jewelry is so great. I see a lot online but I have no idea what's what. Sometimes I just see a piece that is so pretty, and well done in general. Compared to lesser piece it's obvious. Wish I was a neighbor haha I got hooked on vintage puffy heart and charm bracelets.

@liviavintage I love old pieces too and need to learn how to tell so I'm not taken. So started some vintage charm and puffy heart collecting. The asking $$% is so high here and other bidding. I had better luck in person let's say. But point is ppl dont want to polish them and im like they came shiny, and deserve to be shiny.

@liviavintage ok cool ty I will look for it. I'm guilty of impatience, not like me but grabbed some chrome polish for a vintage zippo lighter im.selling. I messed up teeny piece of white in the emblem on front. It's from USS Eisenhower. When I was a kid in GA, my BFF'S brother was on it and I came across the lighter and "I Like Ike" button that would have been worn by crewmember. 😁 anyhoo..

@liviavintage won't do that again😭😂🤣😅 Oh, I would like to learn to solder so i can make sure I dont lose my charms. I have a crazy golden doodle George. Has to survive him. Lilly is calm. I saw ur fur baby too 🐕🐩🐕🐩🐕🐩🐕🐩🐕 I really like ur story thanks for sharing.
