Hi! What is the length shoulder seam to hem? Also, what is the base fabric? Thanks!
marencelest
@vtgobsessed hi there! I believe the base is Rayon, I've seen a lot of dresses from the thirties n forties that felt similar that were made of rayon. it's lightweight fabric. the measurement length is 39"
marencelest
@vtgobsessed oh I found a tag! it's " New York Creations dress company"
marencelest
@vtgobsessed just added photos of the tag (it was in a seam inside the skirt area of the dress, folded up tiny!) and a lil history about the makers, as well as the hand stitching visible on the backside :)

This is a stunner !!! Amazing find. It looks great on you. Bravo !!!!
marencelest
@muthaluvvintage thank you, yes its one of my favorite finds ever 🧡 love your shop as well!!

@marencelest Thanks you. I found a set a lot like this.... It is a skirt, what used to be called a "shell", we call them tank tops now and a jacket. It is handmade, black and amazing. It is too big for me, I'm super tiny. I'll tag you when I get it listed. I lost my precious husband a little over a year ago. I had to close my shop to take care of him and now my house is packed.

@marencelest I am just getting in the mindset to truly get back to work. I have been just listing a little here and there. I knew this would be the hardest year of my life but throw in a pandemic and direct hit from Hurricane Sally and I am just finding who I am on my own after 20 years. My vintage is turning out to be my savior. So glad I found another vintage lover. Alicia

omg I've had my eye on this dress for so long, but I'm worried it'll be too small. can you share how tall the is model? and/or what's the length from shoulder to waist?
marencelest
@poissonrouge model is 5'6" :) happy to measure too
poissonrouge
@marencelest ty! tag me if you measure it shoulder to waist, but I'm pretty sure the waist will be too high for me to fit 😭 I didn't get to thank you for my order a few months ago!! they're beautiful pieces, thrilled to add them to my collection ❤️

Obsessed with this! I am saving it in case I ever get to these measurements. 💕

Can you please tell me the bust measurement? Thanks so much!
marencelest
@emd3009 hi! the bust measures 38" at its widest point, which is under the armpits. The opening of the arms/sleeves starts low so this should coincide w widest point of bosom, if you're under 5'6" in height, proportionately, I believe! I'm adding more measurements to the listing now :)
marencelest
@emd3009 oh and when unclasped, there is more room in the front for larger breasts. but the rib measurement stays 38". hope that makes sense.
marencelest
@poissonrouge finally put complete measurements!

@marencelest Thank you so much!!

Keep an eye out. This particular technique and style came back in the mid-1990s with a vengeance. In spite of the heavy use of synthetic fabrics (which are trash from an archival standpoint—and rayon, which is literally wood pulp), you can still find a fair amount of items in beautiful silhouettes all over the place.

Is there room in the seam to let out the hips?
