aretaw
Hello. thanks for the counter. Does the ring have the 14k stamp inside? And do you know how much grams the ring weighs?
Sep 15Reply

lcataustin
@aretaw it does. I do not know the weight. I can try to find out from a jeweler this week. It was a custom purchase for my mother out of Boone, North Carolina. A store called The Stone.

aretaw
@lcataustin ok thank you!

Hi there! Do you have any information on emerald: any treatments such as oiling, resin, dying? Any supporting documents that come with it?
Oct 01Reply

lynbyk
Do you have an appraisal on this ring?
Oct 12Reply

lcataustin
@lynbyk sorry for the late response. I do not. It was purchased in Blowing Rock/Boone, North Carolina when I was a young girl. My father bought it at The Stone for my mother.
Oct 19Reply

lynbyk
@lcataustin Do you know what your father paid for it?
Oct 19Reply

lcataustin
@lynbyk good gracious! I am 51 yoa and he would have purchased it when I was 10. Not a clue.
Oct 19Reply

lynbyk
@lcataustin So how did you arrive at a $5,000 price on it?
Oct 19Reply

lcataustin
@lynbyk odd question-the ring is exquisite in person. I have a friend who just purchased an emerald ring and the stone, even according to the jeweler she purchased from-cannot touch this one. I know how much her ring was-so I decided this price point. Thanks.

@lcataustin Odd question? Why would anyone buy a ring that you have no appraisal on, have no clue the original cost & have no clue of the value. I wanted an emerald but I’m not going to pay for a price that is pulled out of thin air. The Stone jewelers is still in business & you could go & get it checked out for value. It’s only 90 miles from you. Then you have a verified value.
Oct 19Reply

lcataustin
@lynbyk you are correct it is and I assure you the people in this area have a lot going on right now. I am still in North Carolina.
If you do not like a price of something-do not look at it. Values come from many things. I lost my mother rather recently and there are reasons I price things certain ways. I love this ring and do not wear it enough. However, there is a certain value to me in it.
You never know what is going on in someone’s life-
Oct 19Reply

lcataustin
@lynbyk I wish you the best in your search. You will know you emerald when you find it.

kabraamin2
what size is the stone
Jan 01Reply

kabraamin2
@lcataustin it's not the size of the stone, it's the quality of the stone
Jan 01Reply

sophiesmom1007
Beautiful ring, BUT, not cool to list a price then go up. Because you increased the price with nothing to substantiate that, as a buyer I would say “show me the proof” that it is truly worth the increased price.
Jan 13Reply

lcataustin
@sophiesmom1007 okay. Several factors. Other appraisals on emeralds in my possession-but mainly-my mother died. It was her ring and the intrinsic value to me is now much greater. I do not understand why it is a problem if a value changes to the person. I always follow the adage be kind-you do not know what is going on in another’s life.
Jan 13Reply

lcataustin
@sophiesmom1007 and if you not agree with a price-simply do not make an offer or purchase an item.
Jan 13Reply

katheise5
Beautiful ring. May I ask where it came from?
Jan 16Reply

lcataustin
@katheise5 it was my mother’s.
Jan 16Reply

gujugirl
Why don’t you have the ring appraised?

Does the Emerald have any cracks or scratches? Do you happen to know the carrot weight on the emerald? Did you also say it sita on 14 karat gold?
Mar 24Reply

k_formby
I had a ring just like that one. It was stolen from me along with my diamond tennis bracelet. I have been sick about it since. I know who stole it, but I could not prove it. 😢
