Weddings in Pakistan are very elaborate and girls spend a lot of time, money and effort on their wedding dress. These dresses are colorful, embroidered, have sequin, tassels and may have tiny mirrors studded on them. Women dazzle and impress on their wedding day and then they stuff them in a box never to be worn again. What a waste of money. Some non-profits have started working on convincing women to donate their wedding dresses to charities where local artisans cut them and then re-stitch them into quilts. Instead of being locked up in boxes these expensive dresses now become a source of employment for many local artisans. These quilts come in various sizes and they are all unique. No two quilts are alike. Looks great as a spread, a throw or hung on a wall like a tapestry. An upscale home decor item and a great conversation piece. Some call them quilts, some call them Wall Art. Is is very labor intensive to make these quilts as everything is done by hand. This quilt is very large. Dimensions: 96"L x 76"W - it's big. See how it dwarfs the TV in one of the pictures.. We have had this for a long time and loved it. We have moved to a new house which unfortunately does not have a suitable place to hang this. Our loss is your gain. Makes a great conversation piece as well as adds color to your house. I hope it finds new life in a nice home.
