I’m sorry I’ve been off the grid. Dad is having his worst week yet, so Lupus said good try clearing out a ruptured ear drum and sinus infection... and added an ear infection to the other ear! 🤦🏼♀️

@infinitygirl8 @rawluxe_world each time I mean to get back on the grid, it’s like this bizarre vertigo that has looking at screens and sounds making me feel like I’m sea sick lol! I feel awful because I wish I could take on his pain. I guess you process life changes with Lupus and that there’s no cure as of yet, but the unknown has really impacted him and it’s so hard to watch! 😭❤️

My mom keeps reminding me that the plan for over a year and a half was that I would be moving to LA and eventually I can’t just stay and not get better either! I’m down for anything but I would rather your mom use her energy for you all. I know how stressful this is. I know all too well about falling off the grid and although my sickness isn’t physical, it absolutely keeps me from my phone for periods of time here and there. So much so, if the Pope himself called my cell there are times when I just can’t answer. So again, pls know no one ever needs to apologize for anything - especially not being off the grid!!!

Hi there i read your stories with your own lupus battle and with your Dad’s cancers. My Dad is going thru cancer himself during this epidemic and what i learned is the entire medical system is botched and we really have to be our own advocate and our own doctors sometimes.

My sister was a die hard runner and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when she was very young and then progressed into Crohns Disease into her 20s. They put her on humira for a few years until she was having issues with insurance and couldn’t do Humira anymore. She found this amazing IFBB pro dietitian who put her on an anti-inflammatory diet and she hasn’t had a flare up nor had to take Humira for about 4yrs now.

Shes in her mid 30s and competes in bodybuilding herself (that is to say she is the healthiest she’s ever been and feels great)!! You seem like you’ve got it covered but if you want to know the contact info for that dietitian who does her meal planning etc. I’ll send it over! I did musical theatre my whole life, then trained for 2 months and ran a marathon at 19. Quickly after I was recruited to run collegiately. I spent every xc season with bronchitis or pneumonia, but was 3 times all-conference and captain of my xc and track teams without running experience in high school.

@gramercywyld my personal approach to being able to have pneumonia and still run an 18 min 5k or a 50 miler, isn’t just relying on monitoring your physical health. I believe half of it is mental. Lupus has no cure and most likely won’t in my lifetime because it’s complicated and not one case of the disease is the same. Many people do not have the ability to run and loosing it at times makes me wildly motivated

@gramercywyld and incredibly grateful when I’m healthy enough to do so. I run for those who cannot besides myself now and so many women I’ve met who suffer in silence are what help me to achieve what is said to be impossible. My hands become crippled more than my feet, logically that doesn’t even make sense to doctors, so I found a very personal and special place with my faith when I’m able to do what is also my therapy.

@gramercywyld I talk about that more on Instagram, but I was in an abusive relationship and attempted suicide at 20. I stayed in the relationship for 6 years after that and running saved my life. I don’t offer training plans or take on other advice because what I’m doing seems to be working for me, which also is a miracle given that my health isn’t always great but my body can handle 120 mile weeks at build

@gramercywyld even the boys teams in college normally don’t hit that many miles because it is easy to become injured. I appreciate everything you sent over! I’m neurotic, as any distance runner lol, to following exactly what my body is asking of me. As pictures show I am really lean and super muscular without lifting. To be honest, I don’t eat super clean because I believe for me at least, fats and sugars are needed to run long without injury!

@abunnischenz YOU ARE A TRUE WARRIOR ALYSSA and, not to be super cheesy here, but it sounds like the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I will look you up IG and relay to my sister as well. If she eats even a little gluten if she is out and about, or doesn’t drink her gallon, or is around mold, etc her wrists she said lock up and joints ache so badly.

She’s been competing for 2 years now and I see she pushes thru some workouts only because she knows if she doesn’t, she will feel worse without working out. I truly get it when you say “your therapy” 100%. ☺️ You keep on pushing and motivating and inspiring others!!! 😇
