@heckofabecca when you close a 'normal' umbrella, the bottom (pokey part) faces down. this one has a fold in the middle so it makes like a V- shape and the bottom faces up. The water won't drip toward your hand, it gets scooped up and you stay dry. perfect for when you're getting in a car.
