Hand Carved Hippo

This wonderful little guy is from Brazil. I watched him take shape as the artist worked. Carved from a piece of ironwood (if I remember rightly), the artist let the wood tell him what to carve and Dante the hippo was born. Letting him go to a new home as I’m downsizing. Quite a heavy, solid piece. The cracks are a natural occurrence and not damage. Approx. 8” high x 2.5” tall.
