Queen Victoria set the example for wearing mourning jewelry and it quickly became fashionable. This laboriously cut black onyx showcases antiqued gold initials with seventy-two rose-cut diamonds. On the back, you will see an encapsulated pocket to store photos, or more traditionally, a locket of hair. Perfect for a layering option, we have added a fossilized Trilobite.

Is the metalwork for the monogram a mix of gold and silver? I am trying to figure out. Is the monogram gold or gold plated?

@ashleygirl0503 Just about all of gold karats are mixed with silver, except higher karats like 24K. The monogram is not gold plated.

@ae_jewelry_coin so sorry I wasn’t clear on this:) The monogram is all gold colored-not gold and silver colored metal? It looks like some of the monogram is a silver colored metal and some is gold-but I’m thinking it may be the light?

@ashleygirl0503 You were clear! It is not gold plated. The monogram is most likely a lower karat. This means that there is more silver in the mix with the gold. Silver is known to tarnish which is what you are most likely seeing in the monogram.
