Evaluation by James Compton Gallery: "This is a hand woven early Eastern Seaboard blanket, dating from 1830-60.Your blanket is considered a bed coverlet & is referred to as an overshot woven on a jacquard loom. Looms were narrow, so it took weaving 2 panels to make your blanket. The dyes are natural, red is cochineal & the blue indigo, the white yarn is either cotton or linen, yours is a particularly nice one in its composition and complexity."
