christinaswan08 @liaaniyah Yeah, I always feel badly when people get duped out of a lot of money thinking what they’re buying is real 😔 it’s a common technique when something is sold out or very desirable to up the price. People see the price and assume it’s authentic, plus the frenzy of a mob of people wanting it. Always best to get a second opinion before buying!

christinaswan08 @maddmadd27 the issue is that some pieces get sent through as authentic when they’re not. I’ve had it happen to me with Vestiaire Collective before. They sent me something they had “authenticated and quality checked” and it was fake. Had it third party authenticated to make sure it wasn’t just me being extra lol no one is perfect and honestly some of these bigger companies let things slip through the cracks because a lot of their consumers don’t know any better

That said, I agree - I feel bad for people who fall for it - this is one I might actually have fallen for myself! And it truly makes makes think twice about buying designer items here. I just traded my brand new Balmain bag for an LV. It looks authentic - makes me sick to my stomach thinking it might not be. The tags were not sent and it was listed NWT. 😳

christinaswan08 @maddmadd27 I’ve seen it happen time and time again. I understand the distrust. I follow all the rep pages on Reddit to try to keep up, but I go on other sites that claim to virtually vet items etc and I see all those fakes for sale as authentic. Tags mean nothing, serial numbers, even receipts can be faked. I hope you got the real deal with your LV, I really do. Always be 200% before a trade or sale. Just ask a professional or buy retail. That way you’re not caught out later on

If the associate didn’t have a good enough eye it would get sold on to another customer! It’s unreal these days, I swear
