This ornate sterling handled cake breaker can be attributed to the Schneider Mfg.Co. of Toledo. From the 1930’s, cake breakers were the only way to serve cakes, as most baked goods back then were quite light & airy. If a knife was used, the cake would just fall apart, so the cake breaker was introduced. It’s fantastic for use on Angel Food & frosted goodies! Measuring 10-1/2”x3-3/4”, & in EVC, the breaker is minimally patinated & the tines pretty straight.
