Is the crack on the dial or on the glass covering the dial? Where is the watch from/how did you acquire it? Did you say it needed a battery? Is it quartz then or hand wound?

@katrinincik generally hand wound watches do not need batteries. Only quartz watches need batteries. Do you have the original box and papers or a régence number on the case?
