Features a bold, rich illustration of a single Red Carnation (likely intended to be a deep red rose or a carnation) on a textured, grey-green background. The flowers and leaves are heavily outlined in a manner typical of early 20th-century printing. The background features a striking shimmery, metallic green finish, indicating the use of gold or metallic powders in the printing process (Gilding). The design is highly illustrative and simple, focusing on the flower. The style is bold and less sentimental than the German cards, pointing toward a North American origin. It was printed by a Canadian publisher, The Mc-Coy Printing Company located in Moncton, New Brunswick (N.B.).
Condition: Excellent color saturation. Used/Posted. The back contains clear period handwriting. Canadian 1-cent stamp featuring King George V (the "Admiral" series, orange-red color).
