A monochromatic (sepia-toned, black-and-white) photograph or highly realistic illustration of a large cluster of flowers (likely Hydrangea or a Guelder Rose, as mentioned in the poem). Photographic Realism/Botanical. The entire card, including the text, is printed in a muted brown/sepia tone, which was a popular finish for early photographic cards.
Two lines of text in quotation marks:
"The stately guelder rose 'Bearing its myriad flowers with conscious pride'"
Condition: Used/Posted. The back has clear, full handwriting (a long message) and a legible postmark. The message is dated "28th Jan 08" (January 28, 1908). The stamp is present but heavily cancelled. It appears to be a UK stamp, likely the King Edward VII Halfpenny (½d) stamp (green) that was the correct postcard rate for the period.
Great for:
📓 Junk journaling, scrapbooks & mixed-media art
