Made by the Van Briggle Pottery Company is this small but visually distinctive bud vase. It's called an Onion Bulb vase because of its many similarities to its namesake. Beginning at the vase's bottom are the shapes of the onion itself. From each of the five onion bulbs rise a sprout arching upward on the neck until it ends in the flower bud. Produced in the 1930's, its shape number is 645. Fired in a Mulberry glaze, a dark blue overspray is applied to each of the onion bulbs. This technique provides depth and visual interest. The vase stands 4 1/4" tall by 2" at the rim and 3" at its widest point. There vase is in excellent condition and displays very well. Incised on the bottom is the familiar Van Briggle logo along with the company name and their location in "Colo Spgs". It would make for a great decoration or addition to your art pottery collection. *Look at photos for references.
