I started into watches as a modifier of watches. I needed a way to focus my attention and get my mind in a peaceful place. I would do this at first by adding new hands, bezels and dials to watches. I was getting intrigued into watches and the manufacturing of the entire watch from start to finish. So after a deep dive into watches and their construction, I decided I can make a watch that I can connect my passion of the ocean with the elegance of a dress watch. Therefore I started Kumatage Timepieces. What does “Kumatage” mean? Well, it is a lost word that has a beautiful meaning. Having served in the US Coast Guard and was a Boatswain Mate, I have heard and uncovered many terms used in the nautical sense. Kumatage is one of them. It is defined as, ‘A bright appearance on the horizon, under the sun or moon, arising from the reflected light of those bodies from the small rippling waves on the surface of the water' This is just the start of my Dress watch line. As some may be able to tell I am using the Officer rankings as my dress watch line and will continue to improve and modify the line up the “Chain of Command” per se. The watch you see is the “B-Style”( Roman Numeral at 12,3,6 & 9) Ensign line that is a 316L Stanless Steel Quartz watch with two hand Miyota 2025 movement. It is an accurate watch that blends beauty with simplicity at a reasonable entry level price.
