Authentic Lanvin Rare Vintage Jeanne Lanvin Pure Silk Large Scarf. Made in France- a rare find from back when the brand was originally called “Jeanne Lanvin”. Crafted in pure silk with white fine silk rolled edges. A Mod Print In shades of grey, white and orange with black writing. In excellent vintage condition. Very light signs of age such as a little hole likely from a tag near the corner and the number tag is hanging off but can easily just be removed and kept (all pictured).
Overall this is an exquisite find!! Does need ironed / steamed but I am not an expert at that so will leave that to the buyer. Message for further details, photos or offers.

I’m a a lanvin collector. I would like to purchase this scarf but I’m hesitant - you have a tag that you declare is a serial number tag hanging off - it’s actually an “RN” number that is registered by the Federal Trade Commission to brands and companies in the United States. Lanvin is a French brand and does not issue RN number with their designs. I traced the RN number listed in your photo and it is to that of Doro Designs, a costume jeweler located at 10 E 38th in NYC.

I’ve shown it to a fellow collector that is more knowledgeable to me and used to work for Lanvin decades ago. You state it’s authentic- where was it purchased - origin, etc?
I’d like to use it for an interiors project so I’m going to make an offer based on the listing and my estimated value.

@lslstyledoyenne hi i’m sorry i am just now seeing your comments - i am a professional luxury reseller and i just assumed the RN number was a serial i wasn’t sure exactly if it was the product
code or what and since it is such a vintage piece i wasn’t sure if i could look it up. I have sold plenty of authentic vintage scarves and i am positive that this is a rolled edge vintage scarf and am positive that it is authentic. The woman that i originally purchased…
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne ….from was an elderly woman getting rid of some of her old scarves.

@lslstyledoyenne feel free to check my page i have been a professional luxury reseller for 8 years and have been selling on poshmark a good majority of that time and have thousands of reviews - i actually use to sell almost solely rare vintage pieces. Almost all the replica vintage scarves you find do not have any fabric tags attached (unless louis vuitton or chanel).
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne and sure that’s fine i always welcome all offers i never decline them only counter or accept 🤍
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne after further research this font / logo was used only during the 1960’s so this is from somewhere between 1960-1970 - i can add sources if you’d like to see
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne also if you look into it you have to keep RN numbers updated or they expire so that is apparently just who has that RN number in america currently - all luxury fashion houses use private textile designers to make their garments so this must have been the RN number of the textile maker at the time this was made in the 60’s
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne this scarf was made at the end of the year 1960 according to the RN number - there is a formula to determine the original manufacture date for expired / vintage RN numbers - if you input this RN number ^ into that formula you get 1960.9 which is the year of manufacture.
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne i uploaded the formula i’m referring to ^ a lot of vintage clothing resellers site this as the way to figure it out

You’re very kind to provide so thorough of response. I’m a designer and very familiar with the history of luxury houses. Lanvin is not an American brand, nor was it made in America in that era, thus it wouldn’t have had an RN tag.The serif tag font seen in your photo is also newer than that of something in the 60s/70s. Lanvin does not use “serial numbers” to this day. Garments and accessories have only a branding tag.
lslstyledoyenne
I’m curious to read what you’ve found that you added to the listing. Could you kindly provide the source?
An additional thing to know regarding RN numbers is that they are not reproduced, when one company folds, or chooses not to renew, the exact number combination never is repeated again.
I hope we were both able to learn something from the other. Cheers and happy selling!

@lslstyledoyenne yes i can show you what i read but i’m not sure how to give you a link as i can’t just paste a link into a comment i can only add screen shots. I have sold plenty of lanvin items, some of their bags have serial numbers but yes they accessories these days just have a reference number on the tag which maybe that is what “RN” stood for who knows - although i find it odd it is the exact math that shows it made in 1960…..
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne ……1960 as the sites provide that seems too coincidental - i am aware that lanvin is not an american brand i actually rarely sell american labels in my store. When i was reading up on RN numbers it said international companies did sometimes put them on tags to replace a brand name
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne @lslstyledoyenne the “math equation” green photo is from a youtube video called “How to use RN numbers to determine vintage clothing”, the other photo is from, also if you google “RN number calculator” plenty of sites as well as one with a literal calculator will pop up to determine the year of the RN number
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne last photo i added is from a site that shows the history of fashion house labels and all of
the ones from 1960-1970 use this font ^
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne if you’d like we can make this a whole lot easier and i can have it authenticated for you - takes 12-48 hours to have done
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne last photo added was about international companies using an RN number that is directly from the FTC website
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne i have added a video so you can clearly see this is an authentic true vintage silk lanvin scarf - it even has a musty vintage odor which you cannot replicate. I have handled 1000’s of authentic luxury bags and accessories over my years we a reseller and i would stake my entire reputation on the fact that this is an authentic and vintage lanvin scarf.
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne **as a reseller
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne and as far as the price- i can find 2-5 of these for less then my price but majority are $500-800 in this size and condition so i truly feel this is a treasure of a find.
pinkpoppy
@lslstyledoyenne Paid to have the scarf authenticated for you- please see certificate above ^ 🤍

ragstagsales
Wouldn’t it have a tag that says soie? I see many others that do but perhaps that was a different era or model?
pinkpoppy
@ragstagsales no, this is a very very vintage scarf - please see above photos for authentication certificates ^ 🤍
