#628 Wrapped Leather bottle
Description:
This is a highly distinctive vintage or antique decorative bottle, often referred to as a demijohn or decanter. The bottle itself is made of bright green glass with a long neck, and it is housed in a unique, form-fitting hand-stitched leather casing.
The most striking feature is the hand-embossed or carved leather face on the front of the body, giving it a folk-art or tribal mask aesthetic. The leather is a rich, warm brown color with contrasting stitching, suggesting a handcrafted, potentially Mid-Century or earlier origin, possibly from Spain, Italy, or another European region known for this type of leatherwork.
This piece would make a fantastic addition to a bar display, a collection of unique bottles, or as a standalone decorative object.
Condition:
• Vintage/Used Condition: Consistent with age.
• Leather: Shows characteristic signs of age, including natural wear, patina, and variations in color and texture.
• Damage Note: Please note that there is a large, darkened, and cracked/worn spot on the side of the leather casing (as seen in the photos), which adds to its antique character but is a key feature of its condition. The stitching is intact where visible.
• Glass: The green glass appears intact; however, the bottle has not been tested for leaks or usability as a working decanter.
