Charming Silver Plate Horses & Chariot with Clear Cut Glass Open Salt Cellar Dip. This rare, circa 1900-05, piece consists of a horse drawn chariot that houses a cut glass open salt. It is made of heavy weight silver plated metal and features two intricately detailed horses and a chariot with wheels that turn. The chariot carries a "Romona" pattern open salt by McKee that can be seen in 5,000 Open Salts (#2569) by Heacock & Johnson, where it is noted to be scarce. It measures 2-1/8" high to the top of the horses head, 5-3/8" in length and 3" in width at its widest point of the wheel base.
Glass has chips or cracks. Metal chariot with no bends or dents. Bracing for one horse has split from the unit as shown in pic.
