This is quite a stunner...it is a 1930s' tilt toy hat, which is composed of a small, but tall crown in a cylindrical shape. The top of the crown slants towards the front, and is attached to the sides of the crown with strips of the same felt. The brim is short, and made of very fine black straw. From the back of the brim there is a row of black feathers projecting backwards, and there is a fabric covered circle to hold the hat in a tilted position. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. There is no label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
