socalmom222 @pennijmoore3718 All jewelry varies in purity because 100% of any precious metal is too fragile on its own. I think the number on the inside refers to the silver content. It was purchased from a fine jewelry store in Boulder CO in the mid 1990s.

socalmom222 From Google: fine silver is alloyed with copper to create sterling silver, which is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. This percentage of fine silver is why you will sometimes see sterling silver referred to as '925 silver' or hallmarked with a 925 stamp.
