Shoplifting has been rampant in recent months. Try to avoid buying stolen goods shoplifted from stores. Especially, high-end & designer goods. Knowingly purchasing stolen goods IS A CRIME!
How to avoid buying stolen goods on Marketplace such as Poshmark:
1. If the price is too good to be true, it probably is for a reason: either fake or stolen. If a brand new LV bag, currently in stores, appears authentic but is listed way below retail, it might be stolen. Ask for a receipt of purchase.
2. Buy from a reputable seller. Be wary of newer accounts selling a handful of items that are similar in brand. They might be scammers or selling stolen goods. Check their selling history and ratings. Ex: username pm2436677.
3. Check the seller’s profile. If there is no info about them, no picture, no selling history, avoid buying.
4. Are the listings consistent? Are the photos across multiple listings look similar? If they’re all different, more likely a scammer. Do the listing descriptions show familiarity/knowledge with the item? If not, it might be stolen.
5. A $2800 designer item, brand new and still in stores, will not be listed at $600 (even to show authenticity). Ask for receipts. Reinforcement of point #1.
6. Communicate with the seller and ask hard questions. If they do not respond or are rude, avoid them. Honest sellers are happy to communicate details.
7. Report suspected fraud or stolen Goods to Poshmark.
Not all great deals are fraudulent but just be careful. 😊

Absolutely! The people doing this are giving buyers a bad impression. I have been trying to make people aware that jewelry bought from cheap apps is being misrepresented as high-end retail stores items. We don't want people to be afraid to shop on Poshmark. Thank you for addressing this so well! Happy Poshing! 😃

I was just talking to my husband about that the other day. I was literally wondering how many closets had stolen items. Big store s like Nordstrom, Saks, et . No longer carry certain brands in stores such as Gucci, Burberry, LV. They gave a ridiculous reason but I bet it is to stop stealing. Anyway, great post! Have a great day, Rona 🛍💖💕
