Vintage 12-Link Concho Belt
The word concho comes from the Spanish word “concha”, meaning “conch” or “seashell” or just “shell”, but has come to more commonly mean oval, round, or occasionally rectangular discs of silver used to adorn belts, for jewelry such as pendants or bolo ties, and to decorate saddles and horse bridles.
Brand: Unknown / Handmade / Vintage
Size: about 33" end to end
Concho Size: about 1.5" wide and about 2" long
Closure: Hook
Material: silver plated metal (not marked 925 so it's not pure sterling and likely nickel or another silver alternative)
Condition: Like new! No noticable scratches. All conchobons
Value: seems like it's anywhere from $150-500 since it's silver only with no stones and no definitive markings (some marked are going for $1000-3000+)
My aunt got this in either New Mexico or Arizona during her travels in the 80's or 90's, she's not certain which but used this as a high-waisted belt. I was planning to make it two hat bands but realized they were were more valuable intact and didn't want to destroy something in such flawless condition. I'm just not thin enough and would probably need 3-4 more links to west it, that's the only reason I'm selling it.
