Vintage 12 Piece Royal Kahla (Service for 4) Fine Porcelain Toy Tea Set - Circa 1987 - East Germany. A sweet 12 piece toy tea set manufactured in East Germany (German Democratic Republic- GDR), two years before the fall of the Berlin wall. Manufactured in 1987, this tea set features a cute Panda Bear on each of the individual pieces with gold trim on each piece. The set includes a tea pot with lid, 4 cups and saucers, a creamer, sugar bowl and two plastic spoons. Christian Eckhardt started the porcelain production site in Kahla with 20 employees in the mid 1800's. After the second world war, Germany was divided into 4 parts, with the Allies (US, France and Great Britain) combing three parts into West Germany and the Soviet Union taking the 4th part and creating the German Democratic Republic (GDR - East Germany). The GDR made the porcelain factory in Kahla into a state owned operation and further expanded the production site. After the fall of the Berlin wall the company was privatized. The approx. measurements of each piece is as follows: Tea Pot w/ Lid - 5" H x 4 3/4" Handle to Spout Creamer - 2 5/8" H x 3" Handle to Spout Sugar Bowl - 1/2" H x 2" W Cups - 2 3/4" Handle to Edge of Cup x 2 1/4" Diameter x 1 3/4" H Saucers - 3 5/7" Diameter Overall condition of the set is excellent. There are manufacturing imperfections such as small bumps and roughness on the outside of some of the pieces. I will ship the original box but all the pieces will be individually wrapped.
