These collectible amphora jugs were made by the Zanesville Stoneware Company of Ohio beginning in 1940. They held a concentrated Eau de Toilette that Coty introduced that year, which they called "Informal Fragrances". 4 or 5 different colors of the pottery each held a different top Coty scent; this beautiful green piece fittingly held "Emeraude" ("Emerald" in French).
This scent is no longer in production, but was described in the following way:
"Top notes are Bergamot, Lemon and Orange; middle notes are Brazilian Rosewood, Ylang-Ylang, Jasmine and Rose; base notes are Opoponax, Benzoin, Vanilla, Amber, Sandalwood and Patchouli"
Amphora stands approximately 5.5" tall, and 6" tall with the stopper.
