Every Sunday show we auction an item with all proceeds going to a charity near and dear to our hearts, The Mabinti Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania! From their website:
โThe Mabinti Centre was established in 2009 to empower women recovering from obstetric fistula surgery by providing them with vocational skills and entrepreneurial training to start their own business. The Mabinti centre also offers employment to graduates of the programme. Mabinti products made by the ladies at the Centre have become a well-known brand for quality handmade bags, accessories and toys in Tanzania and abroad. Income generated from the sales of the products is supporting the operational costs of the Centre and it helps CCBRT in identifying and treating more women suffering from fistula in Tanzania.โ
The weekly item auction originally began with a bag purchased directly from the Mabinti center, and has lead to tons of different charity item auctions, & many re-donations resulting in thousands of dollars being raised!
I contribute to donations to ensure that the cause receives every dollar raised. Winning bids are used to purchase bags made by the women at the centre for future auctions, creating a perfect circle of giving! Supporting the charity through bidding, sharing, and cheering everyone on is an amazing way to help support those who donโt have access to medical care we take for granted here in the states - and we are so grateful for your help! ๐
