stylister @bluerop it's mostly the lighting. it's not dirty. there is a small area of wear at one end on the bottom, which isn't noticeable unless you shine a bright light on it (which I did for the purpose of full disclosure). there is wear/tarnish on the hardware. the fabric is shiny, metallic and crinkled, which makes it hard to see either dirt or wear. thanks for asking!
