Large, ornate Pink Carnival Glass ALEXANDRA Egg-Shaped Compote / Lidded Vintage Candy Dish. Produced in U.S.A. This design is one of the more rare typically found for L. E. Smith pieces. This beautiful candy dish is approximately 9.25-In. High and 5.25-In. in Diameter. It is a substantial glass piece, weighing 2.9 lbs. It is decorated with a varied, ornate pattern in relief on both the base and lid. There is a sticker with the "L. E. Smith Glass - Handmade in USA" logo on the base ~ Script "S" logo is also impressed into the glass on the bottom. This vintage candy dish was made in the U.S.A. by the L. E. Smith Glass Company. The L. E. Smith Glass Co. reportedly operated for 98 years, beginning in 1907. The candy dish is in excellent vintage condition, with no chips, scratches or damage. A beautiful piece for any collector that loves vintage carnival glass and enjoys collecting pieces with a unique, distinctive design/shape.
