I have recently gone a little nuts for the comfort, softness and delightfully crinkly texture of cotton gauze. It is just the best of all the things to me, and also very breathable. The more you wash it, the softer it gets, perfect for babies, but I’ll soon be making some larger adult sizes too. This hand-quilted cutie consists of a total of 5 layers: 2 layers of double-layer cotton gauze in a soft peachy blush color. Between each of those double layers is a layer of 100% organic cotton quilt batting. I hand bound it using a 100% cotton floral print, and chose 5 quilting perle cotton thread colors (Sashiko type thread and stitching) to accent the colors in the binding. Once finished I pre-washed to get this wonderful crinkle texture. Measurements are baby size, approximately 36” by 42”. As with anything handmade, small imperfections are part of the charm. But this little whole cloth quilt was put together with love and a view to make something that will hold up and last. (Though I don’t recommend gauze for use with a pet.
