Rare Vintage 1949 Replogle Upside-Down Precision Globe. The upside-down globes were made to show the world at a different perspective. The way we display world maps is steeped in the politics of tradition, nationalism, religion, race relations and a possible fixation with the northern hemisphere. Traditional maps are drawn from the perspective of the first European explorers and cartographers — with the northern hemisphere at the top. I have researched this globe thoroughly and cannot find another like it. This globe is circa 1949. That was the year when Replogle Globes, Inc. started producing upside-down globes. Because of its age, there is definite wear. This can clearly be seen in the pictures provided.
