A Pair of Vintage Chinese Cinnabar Lacquer over Brass Base Vases Vintage Deep Carved Chinese Cinnabar (Red Lacquer) Vases with flowers (Peonies). These pieces are in excellent condition with many fine layers of applied lacquer. No chips or cracks. Lovely carved cinnabar lacquer vases. Vibrant red lacquer cinnabar. The vases are beautifully hand carved with stunning detail. This is a great collectible item, wonderful pieces to add to your collection. There is a brass rim on the top and the inside of the vases is brass as well. The vases measure approximately 4 1/4” tall and 7” around at the widest part. Cinnabar has become quite rare as the process of making these vases by hand is very toxic to the artists and has been discontinued for many years I believe these pieces are from the 20th Century prior to the cultural Revolution (1960's) in the 1940’s-1950’s.
