Vintage Vietnamese Chu Dau set of one saucer and teacup
Chu Dau pottery is an ancient Vietnamese pottery craft dating back to the 12th century, flourishing in the 14th and 15th centuries and lost in the 17th century.
This amazing and unique small saucer with tea cup is believed to be discovered in the late 15th century. A ship sunk shortly after leaving Danang/Vietnam with this famous blue and white pottery, destined for foreign markets. The wreck was excavated by the Vietnamese government but fishermen continue to find these items.
This Vietnamese Chu Dau saucer and teacup comes from a collector's home. Since it was discovered in the deep sea the cup has on its rim still some kind of mineral attached to its cup. The saucers and the teacup depicts a beautiful serene scenery of daily life of Vietnam's fisher village.
