This jacket was used only in a chlorinated swimming pool, by one child, and is in great "nearly new" condition. The vest fits snugly but not uncomfortably around the upper torso; it has just enough stretchiness. It helps teach children to swim by having an adjustable amount of flotation. The child becomes better/more confident at swimming by learning how to maintain their head above water. I used it so my pre-swimmer child could move around in a the pool somewhat independently (but still *always* supervised.) I also opted for swimming lessons. The combination worked.
