Antique book plate illustration of European mammal species. These engraving plates are full page illustrations (from books) without text or printing on the reverse side, from the early 19th century, and often hand colored by artists. Noted in French: ferret, otter, badger, and polecat. Measures 9 3/4” x 6 1/4”. Great details in etching. Condition is good (better than most of this age) - paper is slightly discolored with one small tear at top right. Originally purchased at a Paris flea market.
