This is a stunning look from the 1960's. This fedora is made of alternating black and white straw bands, woven in different patterns. The crown is tall and tubular, and slightly indented at the top. The brim is short, edged in a wider black band and upturned. At the side there is a creatively curved narrow strip of bicolor straw which is finished in a yellow fabric ending in a short tassel of the same fabric.
The hat wearing requirement from previous decades was drastically subsiding in the 1960s. Most dressy hats in the 1960s were worn by women who embraced the traditional etiquette rules of wearing hats to match the occasion.
The fast-fashion youth favored colorful vinyl bucket hats, cloches, and rain hats.
