Polynesian tribal tattoo art has grown globally in popularity, but nowhere has the sea turtle been more revered and used in tattoos than in the Pacific region. Much like the shark, the sea turtle or Honu is highly regarded by contemporary Hawaiian people and fellow Pacific Islanders. Centuries later the Honu remains culturally symbolic to many and a popular design element in Polynesian artwork, particularly in Hawaiian tattoos and graphic designs.
