You will receive 20 shells. The mussel shells harvested from the banks of ponds, rivers, and lakes in South Central Florida. Each shell is taken from the shore already empty. No mussels were taken live, rather taken to give new life. The shells can be used for your arts and crafts, home decor, or anything else you’d like! Possibilities are truly endless. Predators such as raccoons & various bird species scoop the mussels from the water to eat a nutrient rich meal, leaving behind these gorgeous shells on the bank after they are done. Though each shell may look similar, no 2 shells will be the same - truly one of a kind. Each shell is unique and beautiful in its own way, The outside of the shells are dark brown and will begin to flake to reveal white with age. The inside of the shell that once held the contents it’s prey feasted on - the mussel itself - is now empty revealing a purple iridescent color.
