Vintage Nettie Rosenstein purse believe it is from the 1950’s. Reptile lizard/or snake bag, made in Florence, Italy with leather inside. Measures 9.5 inches long/ 4.75 inches high and 4 inches wide with footed bottom. Measurements are approximate… please see pictures. 2 straps on outside and a strong magnetic type closure on the front.
Inside lid has mirror that does show age around edges of mirror. Leather inside with coin pocket.
Nettie Rosenstein was highly regarded and now collectible designer from 1920’s and designed Mamie Eisenhower’s inaugural gowns in 1953 and 1957.
There was a tag in the coin pocket of this purse from the luxury department store of the time, Sakowitz. The original price on the tag was $225 and the back of the tag says the buyer received the reduced price of $189. That is quite a price when adjusting for inflation!
This vintage item would be great for the collector or someone who has a true interest in design history and fashion. It is lovely and has such an interesting story!
