Vintage handmade throw blanket

Sweet, vibrantly-colored handmade throw, hand-tied with red yarn. Measures approximately 39" x 71". By the writing on the back, I can make out (faintly) "for Grandma 1998 love Mary Beth", and Grandma's name in two places. The front is a single piece of printed (poly/cotton?) fabric featuring birds on branches outlined with a black dotted line giving the impression of quilt squares. Back is white cotton fabric, and it has batting in between. Several tiny issues (pictured), barely noticeable from 2' away. I DID NOT launder this - saving the pleasure for its new owner. However, by the fading of the maker's dedication and Grandma's name, it has been washed. My guess is that some of the tiny tears are the result of machine washing. If I were to keep this, I'd remove the yarns, & replace them with 1" coat buttons (red 😉) to mitigate further tearing. I'd gently spot/pre treat using hydrogen peroxide or oxy clean solution, avoiding products like shout... Tiny spots, faint discolorations (and printing) may come out over time this way. I'd place the throw in a large mesh bag & machine wash on gentle cycle/ warm wash/ cold rinse OR hand wash, then line dry (the dryer can bunch the batting). I'd likely replace the yarn through the buttonholes because I like that look. After 25 years, and despite the few tiny imperfections, this lovingly created piece is in excellent condition. Perfect chair throw for YOUR Grandma or as a nice Christmas accent in the guest room... so, ok 💟
