This rare antique/vintage (1940's) pendant portrays Saint Michael the Archangel battling the dragon symbolizing Satan, the embodiment of all evil. Its opposite side shows Mont Saint Michel, a commune and tidal island in Normandy, France. It is believed that, in the year 708, the Archangel Michael appeared in a dream to a bishop and commanded him to build a communal sanctuary on the small islet. It was there that Saint Michael the Archangel fought the great war that banished Lucifer from Heaven and sentenced Satan & the other fallen angels to spend eternity on Earth. St. Michael is the highest spiritual warrior in the battle of good VS. evil. He is a healer and protector, vigilantly guarding humans on their earthly journeys from birth until the time of their deaths. Many people, regardless of religious beliefs, wear Saint Michael necklaces for protection. This particular medal is a rare and valuable find, as it was made in France (see photos) almost 90 years ago. It measures just 20mm×15mm & has been pairs with the stainless steel cross worn by soldiers (stamped 3YWLO), as Saint Michael is the Patron Saint of those who go into battle. Both hang on a brand-new 20" long stainless steel 2mm ball chain. Perfect for any gender and is not confined to religion. The Saint Michael pendant would be lovely on a thin silver chain, as well.
