Vintage Item! This is a rare find and a true treasure indeed... a Royal Worcester Standard size ‘Gold Lustre’ egg coddler. I have not come across many gold ones before! These coddlers date from between 1950 and 1960. They also have the finer thread to the screw top lid which was used in the older egg coddlers. The Standard size coddlers measure 3.5” (9cm) in height and just over 2” (5cm) in diameter and they are intended to hold one egg plus additional ingredients like flaked fish, seasoning etc. They can also be used to warm baby food. For soft poached eggs, just crack the egg into the coddler, screw on the lid, plunge it into boiling water for approx 8 mins and hook it out using the metal ring (and something other than your fingers!). NOBOX They do show signs of wear due to their age but it does not impact the function and overall beauty! 💛
