kid Pendleton blanket The Kid Pendleton did and still makes custom blankets, jackets & mini skirts from the earily 1990s was located in Portland Oregon Downtown not far from the Milwaukee Pendleton mill. I bought 2nds, the end cuttings from when the mill cut the blankets, and at the end of the roll, they had an unusable length left they sold by the pound. Sometimes, i even bought first quality wool by the yard, of course, back in the 90s. The price was much different than now. this blanket is 2 yards x 58" and was a second that had some minor flaws. this is an American Indian heritage patern and earth colors. the trim work is the felt from the mill, which a majority of blankets are tried with. At the mill, it takes 7 years on the sewing machine to achieve the position of a trim sewer. My grandmother taught me to knit, sew, and make baskets when I was a young boy. the white stitch by the label is a spirit stitch. I was taught by Roselyn Begay is a Navajo weaver from Spider Rock in Canyon de Chelly to do the spirit stitch on blankets. it is and represents the spirit you put into the blanket it is medicine. each weaver that do spirit stitch has a style of stitch that can be recognized. the pendleton label is a vintage label. I collect the old pendleton labels as many collectors do. I put mine sometimes on my custom work I make from pendleton wool blanket material.
