Fessler details the accounts of heart-breaking stories of young women who "gave up" their babies for adoption in the 50s & 60s. They were sent away so as not to *shame* the family (sweep everything under the rug, per say) and had little to no say in this decision.
I really appreciated that the women who endured this trauma were given a voice in this book.
Harrowing, intriguing, poignant.
Highly recommend.

I read this book a couple of years ago. I consider it a must read for anyone who was adopted or has adoptees in their immediate family. It’s a real eye opener for anyone questioning why. Read this before you take a DNA test!
