This is a very special design tilt hat from the 1940's. It is made of rust colored felt. The round crown ends in a point at the back and is surrounded by a folded brim that is completely upturned at the back, and gradually is turned down towards the front. At the back and on top of the crown there are beautiful mink tails. There are 2 felt straps attached to the back, held together by an elastic circle. This is a stunning hat! Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. There is no label, indicatin g it was a custom-made creation. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
