mostuff19 @user99987 Hi, yes it needs to be plugged in and comes with a car plug 12V power adapter. There is a battery pack but we were not able to get it to charge.

mostuff19 @eatgordaeat …there is a whirring sound when the player starts up, which is normal for DVD players. Hope this helps.
